Running For Meaning

I will just leave this here…..

After another amazing weekend its back to the real world……I already got an email from my adviser saying im several weeks behind on my writing assignments for my internship credit (which is bullshit because im only 1 week late but anyways). Its hard to find motivation to get up in the morning knowing that most likely I will just weed whack or clean toilets or collect trash.  Ah(deep breath)…..I’m sure everything will work out in the end…..(Gregory Alan Isakov playing in the background)

Ok well I have not posted on tumblr for a really long time and im sorry. But I just wanted to share my recent experience backpacking in the Roan Highlands on the Appalachian Trail.

Here is picture from the balds, reminds me of Idaho but greener.image

Here is a picture of the trail going over the balds: image

Here is the view I woke up to:imageThe barn/shelter (called Overmountain shelter) that I called home for the night:imageFinally a picture of me:image

I have known for quite some time that I wanted to hike the PCT and CDT but the AT was never really in my foresight because I always thought it would be too many people and not enough true wilderness/remote areas. But there is this special culture that surrounds the AT and the people that it tends to attract are mostly amazing. Meeting people you have so much in common with right off the bat makes it feel like you have already known them for a long time even though you just meet. These past two days have been really humbling for me and I find myself again missing the trail life and feeling disconnected from the at times rushed and strict time schedules we put on life. I also feel very blessed and fortunate to experience nature like this with so many amazing people.

And this is what gets me excited for this summer. The outlook spot where this photo was taken is about a 20 min drive from where I will be living.
